Converting AI Customers

We leveraged the psychological principle of loss aversion to increase conversions

Problem

Despite high engagement and positive feedback during the demo period, the conversion rate from demo users to paying customers remained suboptimal. Users often invested time and creativity into their demo projects but did not feel compelled to subscribe, leading to abandoned accounts and a loss of potential revenue for iStock.com. The challenge was to develop a strategy that would effectively encourage these users to recognize the value of their created images and transition to a paid subscription to retain their work.

Solution

Leveraging the psychology of loss aversion, we aimed to motivate users to continue past the demo period. By framing the decision as a potential loss of the images they created during the demo, we tapped into users' sensitivity to losing valuable assets, thereby encouraging them to subscribe.
